AyusLab is making diagnostics smarter. When Vishnu Shashank founded AyusLab, the goal was ambitious but essential: to elevate the quality of diagnostics by transforming how labs operate. AyusLab is a cloud-based SaaS platform designed to help diagnostic labs streamline their operations, engage patients more effectively, and, most importantly, unlock meaningful insights from the mountains of data they generate every day.
“AyusLab is a cloud-based SaaS platform that empowers diagnostic labs to grow by streamlining operations, engaging patients, and delivering data-driven insights to improve the quality of diagnostics.”
The software is already being used in over 1,500 labs across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India, as well as international markets in Africa, the Middle East, and the West Indies. It stands apart by not just managing test reports, but by turning them into tools for better health outcomes.

Origin: From Frustration to Fixing the Foundation
The idea for AyusLab came from a real and pressing gap in how diagnostics were being handled at the ground level. Vishnu noticed a lack of continuity and structure in diagnostic reports, despite their critical role in medical decision-making.
“We started AyusLab after realizing that diagnostic reports, though critical for medical decision-making, were often disorganized and lacked continuity, making it difficult to assess treatment effectiveness or long-term health trends.”
This wasn’t just an inconvenience; it was a gap that directly impacted patient care. AyusLab began by modernizing the lab workflow itself, focusing on everything from analyzer interfacing to intelligent reporting. The mission was to create a system that small and mid-sized labs could afford, adopt easily, and grow with, one that would support better diagnostics and ultimately better care.
Going Beyond the Status Quo
Most diagnostic software does one job: generate reports. But Vishnu saw an opportunity to do much more.
“Most diagnostic software stops at report generation and serves only as a process tool, especially for large labs. We saw an untapped opportunity to go beyond reporting by harnessing diagnostic data to generate actionable insights and improve quality.”
AyusLab took a different approach. Instead of targeting only enterprise clients, the platform was built to be simple, affordable, and powerful for smaller labs often overlooked by legacy systems. In doing so, they’ve managed to democratize access to advanced diagnostic tools in underserved regions.
The results have been profound. The platform now processes more than 11 million test parameters every month and serves over 8 million patients annually.
“Over 1,500 labs use AyusLab to process more than 11 million test parameters every month, serving 8 million patients annually.”
That level of adoption demonstrates not just scalability, but a deep-rooted reliability in day-to-day healthcare delivery.
Challenges: Scaling While Staying Grounded
With its foundation strong, AyusLab is now pushing into its next phase, shifting from being a backend tool for labs to becoming a bridge to patient-centered services. But with that shift comes a new set of challenges.
“Our biggest challenge right now is going beyond being a pure-play SaaS LIMS, unlocking the full value of diagnostic data to power personalized wellness programs through our lab partners and shifting towards directly serving patients.”
Scaling the infrastructure to support this evolution is no small feat. As they move from a lab-focused platform to a more holistic healthcare tool, they must not only build new features but also stay true to their original mission of simplicity and accessibility.
That vision for the future is rooted in lessons from the past. Vishnu admits that not every idea they tried worked, and some painful experiences forced tough but necessary decisions.
“The biggest lesson we’ve learned is that staying financially afloat is everything. Not every idea works, and it’s crucial to cut losses early, stay focused on our core strengths, and double down on what truly adds value.”
Timing, they’ve learned, is as important as execution.
“We also realized that waiting for perfect milestones to raise funds can be risky, timing and market conditions matter just as much.”
This kind of clarity only comes from experience, and it’s helping guide AyusLab as it steps into a more ambitious, patient-facing future.
What Worked: Obsessing Over the Customer
While tech and infrastructure have played critical roles in AyusLab’s growth, one of the most effective strategies has been relentlessly focusing on customer satisfaction.
“Consistent growth came from obsessing over customer retention, by ensuring high uptime, actively listening, and continuously improving the product.”
That commitment to user satisfaction has paid off in ways the team hadn’t expected. Word of mouth, especially in close-knit lab networks, became a powerful driver of growth.
“What surprised us most was how often happy customers referred us, even to their competitors, highlighting the trust and value they see in AyusLab.”
This kind of organic growth speaks volumes about the product’s real-world value and the relationships the team has built along the way.
What’s Next for AyusLab
AyusLab is growing from a lab operations platform into something much bigger: a diagnostic intelligence system that can power personalized wellness. The next chapter will see it move closer to patients, using its data infrastructure to drive proactive care and early intervention through lab partners.
If you’re a diagnostic lab, hospital, or healthcare provider looking to improve quality, streamline operations, and make better use of your diagnostic data, AyusLab is worth a closer look.
