We've rolled out a new awesome feature, that lets you filter software-as-a-service companies by country. You can view the list of countries here, or continue reading to learn more on why that matters, and how we do it.
Why Investors, Marketers, and Agencies Care About SaaS Location
Market Research & Expansion Strategy
For product marketers and agencies, country-based SaaS lists are a goldmine for competitive analysis, localization strategy, or B2B outreach. Knowing which countries are strong in fintech or devtools, for example, helps tailor messaging and campaign targeting.
Want to understand what types of SaaS companies are thriving in the UK or Germany? Looking to benchmark your client’s pricing model or onboarding flow against local competitors? Filtering by country helps you map the competitive landscape more effectively and detect regional trends, such as pricing sensitivity or preferred integrations.
And if you’re launching a SaaS product globally, it’s rarely smart to go everywhere at once. It’s often more effective to focus on one or two markets where you can localize deeply, adapting everything from your language to your case studies and even feature prioritization. A detailed list of SaaS products already operating in your target country lets you analyze local UX patterns, terminology, and trust signals that resonate with buyers in that region.
Investing
Investors often seek high-growth SaaS startups in emerging markets or focus on regions with favorable regulatory and tax environments. A clear view of SaaS companies by country helps identify untapped opportunities or market saturation risks.
For example, when a U.S.-based investor considers investing in a SaaS company headquartered in the U.K., the cross-border nature of the deal often introduces additional complexities, including legal reviews of foreign corporate structures, international tax implications, and significantly more regulatory paperwork, which can delay or even deter the investment process, despite the two countries sharing the English language and being best of buddies.
Compliance and Tax Planning
Doing business overseas adds additional complexity, so some decide to stick to their home country.
Why SaaS Buyers Care About Country of Origin
Data Privacy & Cybersecurity
Not all countries treat user data the same way. Democratic countries typically have good data protection laws. So, for those companies in regulated industries, you may care about where your sensitive data is being stored.
Legal Jurisdiction & Support Expectations
The location of a company's headquarters determines the legal jurisdiction under which it operates. Buyers often prefer providers based in countries with stronger legal standards or better consumer protections.
Performance & Localization
Regional performance, language support, and local payment options often align with the country of origin. Businesses may prefer SaaS hosted nearby for latency reasons or require support in a specific language.
How SaaS Browser Determines a SaaS Company’s Country
We developed a multi-layered system to determine the country in which a SaaS company operates. Here’s how it works:
Ethical Website Crawling and Address Extraction
We crawl the website, specifically footers, privacy policies, and terms of service pages, to locate physical addresses. Because existing tools and AI models were too generic or inaccurate, we built our own lightweight machine learning model specifically for address extraction. Using ChatGPT or external APIs for this would have been cost-prohibitive at scale; therefore, we rolled up our sleeves and decided to build our model.
We respect robots.txt files and follow responsible crawling practices. If you’re a SaaS company and want more control over how your site is listed or want to be removed, you can read more about how we handle that here:
How to Remove Your SaaS from SaaS Browser
Top-Level Domain (TLD) Analysis
We use the TLD (top-level domain), for example, .co.uk, to determine the country if we cannot find an address elsewhere.
Third-Party Data Enrichment
We also use trusted third-party data enrichment services to add more detail, but they, too, rely on publicly available sources. This cross-verification strengthens our accuracy.
Top Countries Producing SaaS
According to our data, the top countries producing the most SaaS companies are the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, and India. These nations have strong tech education, access to funding, and talent pools that make them hotspots for SaaS creation.
